Educational Bookings

Booking in your school or tertiary group guarantees your access to Scienceworks’ education programs, exhibitions and other activities.

Steps:

  • Have a look at Scienceworks’ education programs by topic or year level for one that suits the interests and size of your group.
  • Call the Scienceworks’ education bookings officer on (03) 9392 4819 to lock in your excursion booking. The bookings office is open 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Semester 1 bookings open on 1 December each year. Semester 2 bookings open on 1 May. Some programs are booked through MV Teachers only

Supervision

Teachers and supervisors are admitted free at recommended ratios of 1:3 for preschool groups, 1:5 for primary groups, 1:10 for secondary groups, and 1:20 for tertiary groups.

Cost

Pre-booked education groups and their supervisors don’t need to pay admission to Scienceworks Museum. The Museum does charge an education service fee. For fees and payment information, click here.

Shows and programs led by museum staff have an additional fee per student. You’ll find this fee on the individual program listings.

Arrival

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your booked time at the Schools Entry on the lower ground level. Scienceworks will have staff ready to help you organise your group and process payment.

Coaches and mini-buses can offload students at the designated zone on Booker St, near the museum banners. Buses can park in the overflow car park.

Student Lunches and Bags

Please leave school bags at home. The Museum provides large tubs to store lunches and drinks until lunchtime. Scienceworks has lunch spots suitable for all weather, and a cafe if you’d like to buy lunch or snacks.

Autism-friendly Museum

Scienceworks provides social scripts for students on the autism spectrum to help them prepare for their visit. A colour-coded printout of a sensory friendly map of Scienceworks (PDF, 600 KB) may also be useful. For more information, click here.
